About Gerard Storey...

My story started 49 years ago! I grew up thinking a Christian was someone who didn't cheat at cricket and went to church on occasions - so I must be one! But at 18 years I was invited to a service in All Souls Church and as John Stott preached from Romans Ch 8 - Jesus spoke to me! Challenged me about my life and invited me to pray and find forgiveness and peace. WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!!!

I grew up in Romford Essex, went to school in NE London and did a first degree in Chemistry. I worked for 6 years at the Poisons Unit at Guy's Hospital and did research into a heart drug. At this time I was living in Bethnal Green helping run a mission for boys in the East End. I trained for ministry at Wycliffe Hall Oxford (and particularly enjoyed playing tennis on the grass courts! - is that why my Greek is so poor?) I also did part of my training in South Africa.

I was curate in Worthing Sussex, then planted a new church and became team vicar (9 years). I was then 4 years pastor of the Protestant Church in Oman (parish size of Great Britain with 2 million people and a million camels). For the 8 years before coming to Bream in 2007, I was vicar at Holy Trinity, St Peter Port in Guernsey and sailed to France and the other islands in a old sailing boat - and survived to tell the tale!
