Welcome to our Morning Service

May 24th 2020

Hello Everyone, We will begin the service in 10 minutes or so, but here are a couple of songs that may help you to reflect as we prepare to worship together.
Please watch the below welcome video

Now let’s worship together with 2 songs

Let’s just pause to add our own prayers to those songs of worship. Either in the quietness of your own home, or shared on this group.

And now let’s take a moment to confess where we have missed God’s standards, and to ask him to forgiveness. We take a moment of quiet for personal prayer, and then we can join together in the Confession.

Almighty God,
long-suffering and of great goodness:
I confess to you,
I confess with my whole heart
my neglect and forgetfulness of your commandments,
my wrong doing, thinking, and speaking;
the hurts I have done to others,
and the good I have left undone.
O God, forgive me, for I have sinned against you;
and raise me to newness of life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

May almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins,
and bring us to everlasting life,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All   Amen.

The Collect:
Risen, ascended Lord,
as we rejoice at your triumph,
fill your Church on earth with power and compassion,
that all who are estranged by sin
may find forgiveness and know your peace,
to the glory of God the Father. Amen

Before we think about the reading for today, let’s pray together. Clive and Tracy have prepared the prayers today:

Now please watch the talk below.  Also below is the reading for today.

Acts 1: 6-14

6 Then they gathered round him and asked him, ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’

7 He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’

9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 ‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’

12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk[c] from the city. 13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Now, here’s a choice…. You can take a responding moment now with EITHER total silence, OR a contemporary song, OR a traditional hymn about the Holy Spirit.

Traditional...

Or Contemporary....

Our Closing song

This week, let’s finish by saying the Grace together.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, evermore. Amen.
