Welcome to our Morning Service
Before we begin, please watch and listen to this song and spend some time just coming into the presence of our God.
May 3rd 2020
As always lets begin with a short welcome video…
Lets spend some time in worship with 2 songs.
Let us pray:-
Most merciful God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
we confess that we have sinned
in thought, word and deed.
We have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
In your mercy
forgive what we have been,
help us to amend what we are,
and direct what we shall be;
that we may do justly,
and walk humbly with you, our God.
Chris is going to speak to us now. Chris will be preaching from Acts 2: 42- 47
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Lets worship together again using this song.
Bridget has prepared the prayers today. Let’s pray...
Lord Heavenly Father, thank you for supplying us each day with your love care and protection. We thank you, for the safe arrival of Jane and Robert’s new granddaughter, and Boris and Carrie’s new baby boy. Lord we ask that you will have your hand upon these children and they will grow to develop a real and lasting relationship with you.
We praise you Lord for technology which means we can meet together each week and worship you. Lord help us to have vision for the future and to seek your will for a way to be creative and reach out into our community. Help us to go forward and take your message of hope and love into every corner of the Forest and wider areas. Help us to keep our eyes fixed firmly on you and to have open ears and hearts to hear your voice, and not to be fearful for the future.
Lord in your mercy hear our prayer.
We pray Lord for our world. Let your peace and healing outpour and saturate into all the brokenness, pain and suffering. We ask for you to send Your Holy Spirit to comfort everyone who is mourning the loss of a loved ones, businesses, jobs and fearful for their future. Lord as countries come out of lockdown and start to move into a ‘new normal’, you will give Godly wisdom to leaders. We pray for continued co-operation between countries and communities. Help world leaders to look on this pandemic as a chance to rebuild a new and better world; for opportunities as we go forward for fairer, just and equal societies with you Lord are at the centre.
Help us Lord to show and lead lives that reflect your teaching. Help us to humble ourselves and get right with you through repentance, Lord merciful Father heal our land and our world.
Lord Father God, bless Elizabeth our queen. Thank you Lord for her faith and example. We pray for your wisdom for Boris Johnson and our government. Lord as they make difficult decisions, lead them each step of the way. Be with our scientists as they seek a vaccine for Covid 19. Bless and protect our NHS, our health and social care, front line emergency services, delivery and bus drivers, retail workers, teachers, social workers, and all unseen key workers.
We pray against the increase in domestic violence, neglect and abuse. Lord protect the vulnerable and all who work in these areas.
Lord in your mercy hear our prayer
Lord we lift up charities who are struggling with the lack of funds and donations. Lord protect the people they care for, their workers, some who are furloughed and take away the anxiety and fear of the future.
We remember especially today Teens in Crisis, who can’t meet face to face, but who have purchased new laptops so they can stay in contact with young people on line.
We give thanks Lord for Barry as he co-ordinates Long Table Meals. Thank you Lord for this service and provision. We ask a blessing on this work and on the work Claire and Steve are doing within the community. The volunteers and individuals who are shopping and caring for neighbours and families. Lord bless and protect them.
We pray for the elderly, vulnerable, disabled, people living with cancer and long term health conditions; whatever their ages within our church and communities; where life after lockdown is very uncertain, take away their anxieties and fear. Bring your peace and hope to each one of them and help them to rest in your loving arms.
We pray for grandparents as they wrestle with how to help and support their children and grandchildren.
Parents working from home and in key working roles, juggling home schooling and work. Lord bring calm and peace into each household.
In your mercy hear our prayers.
Lord bless Charlotte as she starts her new role and provide a place for her to live and the right time to move safely to it.
Lord comfort all who mourn and we remember especially this week Densil and Brain James whose daughter Sarah died this week after battling cancer for many years.
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Dear Son Jesus Christ.
A final song.
Let us end with the words of the Grace
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, now and evermore. Amen.
Have a great week everyone
If you are struggling at the moment, you may want to listen to this song later which talks about releasing control from ourselves to God. Why not close your eyes and raise your arms as you listen.
