OUR
MINISTRIES

Our heart for Bream

We are an active intergenerational congregation who are passionate about loving God, each other and our community. We strive to be Jesus focused and led by the Spirit. We may be a rural village, but God is at work. Exciting things are happening!

We seek to be a Bible-based, loving, united yet diverse church which reflects God’s heart for the world to our local community and beyond.

Our vision, which is based on scriptures from Isaiah 58, Ephesians 4 and Ezekiel 47, is to see everyone in the church grow as followers of Christ and, as we move in God’s power, to see our world transformed, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

To this end, practical involvement with the wider community and mission support and involvement are very important to us.  We greatly value in-house opportunities for Bible based teaching /preaching and prayer, and for mutual support through our small groups, children’s and youth work, and various ministry groups.

We have a warm and mutually supportive relationship with Bream C of E Primary School. The school is part of the Severn Federation Academy Trust and as such has a Local Academy Committee (LAC), which includes two Foundation members.  Both places are currently filled by members of St James.  We welcome the school into the church bfor major festivals, the school leavers service and other events such as Experience Pentecost.

Under 5's

Welcome to our Under 5's where all are welcome!

We average between 10-16 regular families each week, with a mix of mums, dads, grandparents and childminders!

We run every Monday, 9.30am - 11.30am although a few mums get to us after school drop off!

We are also pleased to run another session on Wednesday's 1.00pm - 2.30pm.

Sessions are £1.50 per family (please never let not having the money stop you from coming along).

During the session we serve tea and coffee (as much as you like) and a snack for the children, we also have cakes/biscuits for the adults!

There is plenty for the children to do;

small soft play, mark making, building, small world, sit and ride toys and role play

We love creating a safe space where children can play together while their parent/carers can have a drink and a chat with others!

Messy Church

Messy Church is a church, that helps people to encounter and enter into a transforming relationship with Jesus.

Messy Church is for adults and children to enjoy together. we use hands-on activities to explore Bible stories, to reflect a God of creativity and to give people a chance to play together.

Our activities and togetherness reflects a God of unconditional love and is a church for people outside of a traditional church, providing an oasis of welcome and a safe place in which to thrive.

You can join us every 3rd Wednesday of the month, 4pm-6pm!

We'll have a different theme each month.

Messy Church is about hospitality, expressed most evidently by eating together- tea, coffee, snacks and of course cake! Then at the end of each session (around 5.15pm) we'll sit down and eat dinner together!

Messy Church is free but there will be a little box by registration if you would like to donate anything. Or if you would like to support our work in arranging Messy Church you can donate via this link

Calebs Mountain

Caleb's Mountain helps to position "the local church" in making a communal difference of compassion and justice, in particular for families, children and young people. We seek the unique opportunity to love, appreciate and be transformed alongside the people of our community. We do this by creating opportunities for individuals to volunteer in numerous ways in the community.

Barry Stevens, Founder of Caleb's Mountain and Family Support Worker
I’m a fully qualified Community Youth Worker, having worked in both the voluntary and statutory sector. Most recently I founded the Caleb’s Mountain project, which supports children and young people in the Forest of Dean by working with their families and education establishments. I believe this holistic approach will impact children and young people more significantly than other approaches currently available.
